Carlisle Healthcare is a large NHS general practice partnership formed in 2016 following the merger of three established practices in the city. We operate over three sites and have a registered population of approximately 40,000 people.

We are a dual practice Primary Care Network and a busy, innovative GP training practice that welcomes learners across disciplines. Our new purpose‑built premises opened at the end of 2022 and hosts three sites:
North Carlisle Medical Practice (CA3 9JZ
), St Pauls Medical Centre (CA1 1DG
), and Locke Road (CA1 3UB
).

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

• Make surgery, telephone and case consultation available per practice timetable.
• Check and sign repeat prescriptions and manage related paperwork.
• Make professional, autonomous decisions for presenting problems.
• Assess health needs of patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed problems.
• Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
• Provide counselling and health education.
• Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
• Collect data for audit purposes.
• Prescribe using the practice formulary or generically as appropriate.
• Undertake all normal GP duties in primary care.

• Comply with all relevant practice policies and guidelines.
• Commit to life‑long learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice.
• Contribute to evaluation and audit, clinical standard setting, and development of computer‑based patient records.
• Summarise patient records and perform read‑coding data.
• Attend training and events organised by the practice or external agencies.

Essential experience

• Evidence of continuous professional development.
• Evidence of up to date statutory and mandatory training.

Desirable experience

• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
• Desire to develop an area of clinical or management practice.
• Interest in a Personal Development Plan.

Essential personal circumstances

• Ability to drive and hold a full UK driving licence.

Essential qualifications

• GMC registration.
• MRCGP.

£73,114 to £110,330 per annum.
