We seek a talented Internal Medicine Physician to be join the HOSPITALIST staff of an award-winning 65-bed medical center where 500 employees serve 35,000 residents of northeastern Maine.

You will have a convenient DAY SHIFT schedule, weekdays only, 6am-6pm. Hospitalists average
-hour shifts every 4 weeks. This includes one half-day/week for administrative or non-patient care duties.

You will provide inpatient consultations and acute care in a 6-bed Med/Surg/ICU and a 25-bed Med/Surg unit. You have the option to do procedures if desired (not required). You will manage admissions from the Emergency Department, care for post-surgical patients on ventilators, and perform pre-op assessments for the surgeons. You will interact with hospital social workers and discharge planners, office-based primary care physicians, and various medical specialists to coordinate patient care and transfers as appropriate.

The inpatient team includes an excellent, specially trained nursing staff and a superb administrative crew. You will have access to the latest diagnostic testing tools. In this community you will see a large cohort of elderly patients with comorbidities. Serious trauma, cardiac, neurosurgery, psychiatric and other critical cases are transported to the large tertiary medical center in Bangor via air ambulance as appropriate.
