Job SummaryThe LPN Clinic is responsible for providing patient care following established standards and practices. The LPN assists physicians, nurses, and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and patient access. Responsibilities include coordinating patient flow, scheduling appointments, procedures, tests, and referrals. The LPN may serve as a preceptor for clinical staff, relies on guidelines to accomplish tasks, and may lead or direct the work of others within scope of practice under general supervision.
Minimum Requirements- Graduate of an accredited LPN program
- Current Louisiana license as LPN and BLS certification
- Technical Tasks
- Triage calls, determine appropriate medical decision making (e.g., divert to Emergency Department, STEP IN clinic, or PCP)
- Demonstrate competency and accuracy in all work tasks
- Answer the telephone courteously, properly route calls, chart in EMR, and take complete and accurate messages
- Assess medical and nursing care rendered and communicate needs for improvement to superiors
- Use appropriate triage protocols via EMR to guide appropriate patient care in conformance with all policies and procedures
- Improve technical skills, critical thinking, and interpersonal relationship skills as needed
- Fill in for or assist other office staff during absence or work overloads

- Accurately and timely complete all nursing duties scheduled during the shift without impacting quality of work
- Use interpersonal communication skills to achieve desired patient outcomes and satisfaction, maintaining forthright and honest behavior
- Use internal and external resources to resolve, meet, or exceed patient and family health care needs
- Assure delivery of quality patient care by identifying problems and assisting in assessment of patient health status
- Plan use of work time, set priorities, and assist others as necessary; be creative in use of extra time
- Inspire confidence from patients, visitors, and families through courteous and professional communication
- Demonstrate knowledge of corporate policies regarding fire and safety, hazardous materials handling, and infection control
- Clearly explain planned therapies, tests, and/or treatments to patients and families
- Consistently assess situations, consider alternatives, and choose appropriate courses of action, demonstrating good problem‑solving skills
- Interpersonal Relations
- Accept the mission and values of STEP and participate in assigned committees, implementing planned changes in projects and activities
- Report to leadership any suggestion for positive changes that might improve the quality and/or quantity of work performed
- Assist in maintaining the office as a comfortable, orderly, safe, clean, and private patient care environment
- Participate in orientation of new personnel as required
- Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperation with other office staff members
- Greet patients, family members, and visitors in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner, responding with empathy and positive feedback
- Other Duties
- Willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed by the organization
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program
- Current Louisiana license as LPN and BLS certification
