The Youth Justice Service is on a strong improvement trajectory, focused on achieving excellent outcomes for children and young people through restorative practice, targeted interventions and multi‑agency collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake high‑quality assessments and manage a caseload of complex youth justice cases.
- Plan and deliver targeted interventions to reduce the risk of offending and re‑offending.
- Build effective relationships with young people, families and partner agencies.
- Apply restorative justice principles and restorative approaches in practice.
- Prepare high‑quality reports, including sentencing proposals, for Court.
- Present case information confidently in Court when required.
- Work collaboratively within the Case Management Team to support positive outcomes.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement and development of the Youth Justice Service.
- Recognised professional qualification in Social Work, Probation, Youth Justice, Youth Work, Criminology or a related discipline.
- If Social Work qualified, Social Care Wales registration is required.
- Experience working with disaffected or vulnerable young people.
- Strong understanding of the youth criminal justice system and restorative approaches.
- Experience managing complex cases and delivering targeted interventions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full valid driving licence and access to a car with appropriate insurance.
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
