Are you ready to make a difference as a Principal Social Worker in Cardiff’s dynamic Court Team? This exciting locum opportunity awaits you! With a competitive hourly rate of £43.28, you will be working full time for 3 months, focusing on court work related to children and families within the Locality Teams. You will be a key player in shaping the decisions that impact young lives, holding a caseload of approximately 10 to 11 children (4 to 5 families) under care proceedings.

What you will do:
  • Hold and manage a caseload of children involved in care proceedings, ensuring all aspects of case management including statutory visits and care planning.
  • Engage with children and their families to aid in decision‑making processes about their care.
  • Conduct thorough assessments considering risks and protective factors, with a focus on sustainable change.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and draw from various support networks to aid the parent’s ability to provide care.
  • Supervise and develop a team of social work assistants and less experienced social workers, providing guidance, monthly supervisions, and chairing strategy meetings.
  • Ensure the oversight of quality in care plans and assist in managing situations when risks in young people’s cases escalates.
