Hours:

39 hours per week – Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 16:30, Friday 07:30 – 15:30. 1 in 3 weekends with 15% uplift shift allowance.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on‑site Electrician in HMP Cardiff
, where you will support our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), providing safe, clean and efficient prisons.

• Ensure Health & Safety standards are met across the contract
• Test and inspect electrical installations in line with current IEE wiring regulations
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently
• Perform planned and preventative electrical maintenance and diagnose/replace failed domestic electrical components
• Actively fault find and problem solve on domestic electrical systems
• Undertake electrical installation activities according to provided designs and IET Wiring Regulations
• Monitor and order critical spares for all electrical services, and oversee the BMS System
• Support zero‑carbon initiatives, contributing to sustainability goals, and handle additional tasks as directed by your line manager

• Appropriate technical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2365 parts 1‑3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above)
• BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition
• Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations
• Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution, installation, and testing
• Ability to work alone and use initiative
• Capable of working at heights

Prison Security Clearance will be required;
