We work with a wide range of commercial, industrial, and public‑sector clients, delivering high‑quality installation, maintenance, and reactive services. Due to continued expansion and new long‑term contracts, we are seeking an experienced Fire and/or Security Engineer to join our team.
Role OverviewThe successful candidate will be an experienced Fire and/or Security Engineer responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, and fault‑finding of fire alarm and electronic security systems. The role is field‑based, operating from our Cardiff office and covering the wider South Wales region.
You will be expected to work independently, represent the company professionally on client sites, and ensure all systems comply with current standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems
- Fault finding and rectification on conventional and addressable fire systems
- Knowledge and application of BS 5839 standards
- Completion of system documentation, test records, and compliance certificates
- Installation and maintenance of intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, and related systems
- Fault diagnosis and repair of security systems
- Programming and commissioning of security equipment
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits
- Respond to reactive call‑outs and emergency faults
- Liaise professionally with clients, site managers, and office staff
- Ensure work is completed to a high standard and within agreed time frames
- Maintain accurate job reports and service records
- Comply with health & safety procedures at all times
- Participate in an on‑call rota (where applicable)
- Proven experience as a Fire and/or Security Engineer
- Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working on commercial and industrial sites
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Good IT skills for job reporting and system configuration
- Knowledge of BS5839 and relevant British Standards
- Security system manufacturer training
- ECS / CSCS card (or ability to obtain)
- IPAF, PASMA, or similar (advantageous)
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Willingness to travel throughout South Wales
- Flexible approach to working hours when required
- Ability to pass security screening/background checks
