McBride Sport is delighted to be supporting a leading sports organisation in the appointment of a Content & Communications Manager. This is a high-impact role for a creative, proactive, and highly organised communications professional who will lead the development of compelling content and deliver effective public relations activity that brings the organisation’s stories to life. Sitting at the heart of the marketing and communications function, the role will shape brand narrative, drive engagement across digital platforms, and manage media relations to ensure fans, partners and stakeholders remain informed, engaged, and inspired.
ContentStrategy & Creation
- Develop and own a multi-channel content strategy aligned to brand, marketing, and commercial objectives
- Plan and deliver content calendars ensuring a consistent and engaging flow of content year-round
- Create high-quality written content including website articles, features, interviews, newsletters, and marketing copy
- Oversee and brief video content to ensure storytelling is dynamic, audience-focused, and insight-led
- Collaborate with social media colleagues to deliver social-first content that drives reach, engagement, and community growth
- Lead the organisation’s PR strategy, driving positive and consistent media coverage across regional, national and industry outlets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, broadcasters, influencers, and media partners
- Draft and distribute press releases, statements, and key announcements
- Coordinate press conferences, media days and interview opportunities
- Act as a key point of contact for media enquiries, ensuring timely and aligned responses
- Brief internal teams on content requirements and campaign priorities
- Provide visibility of upcoming content and PR activity to key stakeholders
- Track and report on content and media performance, including reach, engagement, and sentiment
- Use data and insights to refine future content and communications activity
- Stay up to date with digital trends, media developments and best practice in sport and entertainment
- Proven experience in content creation, communications, journalism, or PR, ideally within sport, entertainment, or media
- Excellent written skills with strong storytelling skills
- Confident managing media relations and developing compelling stories
- Creative, audience-focused, and digitally savvy
- Calm under pressure and comfortable working in fast-paced, live environments
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- A passion for sport and sports storytelling is highly desirable
