Overview
Working alongside the Clinical Director and Lead Nurse, the Directorate Manager is responsible for the effective strategic and operational management of the service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient services within the resources available. The postholder will have a key role in providing business development support to the Directorate and Clinical Board. They will also be responsible for the management of clinical and non-clinical staff in the Directorate ensuring staff are managed in line with the UHB's employment policies.
The Directorate Manager will take a lead role in developing the strategy for the service in line with the Clinical Board and UHB's overall strategy and service improvement programme. This will include identifying opportunities for clinical innovation and modernisation, the delivery of all operational performance targets, waiting list and financial management, theatre utilisation and management. Finally, the postholder will be responsible for engaging in and driving aspects of work associated with the Optimisation Framework for Theatres and they will also take a lead role in implementation of the "Getting Things Right First Time" Recommendations.

- Working alongside the Clinical Director and Lead Nurse, manage the service's strategic and operational delivery of high-quality patient services within available resources.
- Provide business development support to the Directorate and Clinical Board.
- Manage clinical and non-clinical staff in the Directorate in line with the UHB's employment policies.
- Lead the development of the service’s strategy in line with the Clinical Board and UHB’s overall strategy and service improvement programme.
- Identify opportunities for clinical innovation and modernisation; deliver operational performance targets, manage waiting lists and financial performance, and oversee theatre utilisation and management.
- Engage in and drive work related to the Optimisation Framework for Theatres; lead the implementation of the Getting Things Right First Time recommendations.

- High-calibre candidate with extensive senior management experience within complex organisations; experience leading multi-disciplinary teams is essential.
- Strong operational management and leadership credentials with a track record of delivering results.
- This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to funding; permission from current line manager is required to apply for the secondment.
- The ability to speak Welsh is desirable;
