Head of Corporate Law - Cardiff - Senior Leadership Role
Location: Cardiff
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £85,000 - £110,000, depending on experience
A forward thinking and award winning law firm is seeking an ambitious Head of Corporate Law to lead, grow, and shape its Corporate Team. This newly created senior role offers a rare opportunity to drive strategic growth, build a market leading practice, and play a central part in the firm’s long term direction.
Designed for a commercially minded corporate solicitor who thrives beyond fee earning alone, this position is ideal for someone who wants to build something significant developing clients, leading people, and influencing firm‑wide strategy.
The Role- Leading and expanding the corporate practice, driving client origination and revenue
- Developing and executing a clear business development strategy
- Building strong relationships with clients, referrers, and intermediaries
- Leading pitches, tenders, and panel appointments
- Identifying cross‑selling opportunities across the firm
- Acting as lead adviser on high‑value, complex corporate transactions
- Providing strategic, commercially focused advice to founders and boards
- Ensuring delivery of high quality, efficient, and profitable legal services
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a high‑performing corporate team
- Supporting recruitment, succession planning, and long‑term team growth
- Overseeing financial performance, pricing, and profitability
- Contributing to firm‑wide strategy and championing the firm’s culture and values
- A strong track record of revenue generation and business development
- Experience at Legal Director, Partner, or equivalent senior level
- Proven ability to build and grow a practice
- Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring and developing lawyers
- Excellent commercial acumen, including pricing and profitability management
- Experience contributing to departmental strategy, hiring, and market positioning
- A strong client base, referrer network, or demonstrable BD success
