Senior Occupational Health Specialist Practitioner

Responsibilities: Assist and support the Head of Employee Health and Wellbeing Services within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, provide and deliver a high‑quality Occupational Health service to managers and staff of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. Operate across all Occupational Health sites, provide service to external organisations, undertake all aspects of line management of the Occupational Health nursing team and work collaboratively across both CAV and CTM sites.
Desirable: Ability to speak Welsh. Welsh and/or English speakers equally welcome to apply.
Qualifications- Post‑basic qualification at diploma or degree level in Occupational Health or ambition to work towards
- Evidence of relevant ongoing professional development
- Occupational Health nursing case management of complex sickness absence
- Managing a team and planning an OH campaign (e.g. health surveillance, flu planning)
- Assessment of health risks in the workplace and health surveillance
- Change management, health promotion, helipad fitness screening/HGV medicals, service development
- General management & leadership skills: work under own initiative, prioritise workload, self‑motivated, meet strict deadlines, proactive approach to health care initiatives, excellent communication & presentation skills
- Practical skills:
Spirometry, venepuncture, audiometry, vaccination - Willingness to extend role in line with NMC Scope of Professional Practice
- Use of OPAS or equivalent OH database
- Knowledge of wider NHS & OH role
- Knowledge of nurse‑led Occupational Health services, budgetary and financial management, participation in clinical audit, service development
- Creative, innovative, adaptable, organised & methodical
- Positive role model, enthusiastic & self‑motivating team player
- High standards of personal and professional achievement
- Ability to travel in a timely manner
- Ability to speak Welsh
