We are seeking a registered Social Worker to join one of our multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health teams in Cardiff based at the Hamadryad Community Mental Health Team in Butetown, Cardiff.
Working in Adult Services in a multi-disciplinary integrated community mental health team offers practitioners diverse, fast paced and interesting work as you would expect in a capital city. You will work as part of a progressive team undertaking well-being assessments using a strength based approach to your practice, working with people to promote and maximise independent living.
About the jobThis post includes a £3,000 market supplement in addition to the listed salary. A further AMHP allowance of £2,800 will be paid in addition to the salary and market supplement, if applicable.
You will need to have a Degree in Social Work or equivalent. A comprehensive understanding of the relevant legislation is essential. Ideally you will be an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) for which an AMHP payment is payable or be willing to undertake training for the AMHP role. Previous experience of working within a mental health setting or in multi-disciplinary working is desirable.
You will need to have experience at assessing needs under the Social Services and Well-Being Act 2014 and have experience of Care and Treatment planning in Mental Health Services. In addition, you need to have experience in undertaking risk assessments and developing associated care plans and risk management plans. You should be prepared to undertake appropriate training and be able to work under pressure.
A full valid driving licence and the use of a car during working hours is required for which an appropriate allowance will be paid.
What We Are Looking For From YouWe are keen to recruit an experienced Social Worker. We are looking for people who are committed to putting our citizens at the heart of the work that we do and who want to work in a fast paced, dynamic and diverse area of work.
- You will be a qualified and experienced Social Worker and be registered with Social Care Wales.
- You will have a sound knowledge of the legislative framework in operation.
- You will be committed to undertaking regular supervision sessions with your Line Manager of Grade 8 and taking a role in mentoring groups and supporting students in the team.
- You will be committed to undertaking training opportunities, attending peer support sessions and supervision.
- You will be able to practice from a strength-based perspective.
- You will want to work in the capital city of Wales in Service s where we support each other and work together with other colleagues, professionals and organisations.
- The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage.
With effect from 1st April 2025 this post attracts a market supplement of £3000 per annum full time equivalent. This payment is reviewed on a 12 monthly basis.
This post has a requirement for registration with Social Care Wales.

This post is part time and will work 18.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. The salary shown however relates to 37 hours per week and will therefore be pro-rata’d accordingly.
