Are you a dynamic and passionate Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) professional seeking a leadership role that will challenge and inspire you? Do you have the drive and dedication to make a real impact on patient safety and quality? If so, we invite you to join our Infection Control team.

As an IPC Lead Nurse you will play a crucial role in leading Infection Prevention Control initiatives and ensuring the highest standards of infection prevention.. You will support the Head of Nursing for IPC HARP in providing strategic direction and driving continuous improvement in IPC practices.

The aim of the service is to provide an ongoing IPC programme to reduce the risk of health care associated infection and so contributing to the quality-of-service user/patient care and service delivery, the IPC Lead Nurse role will be integral to the delivery of the IPC programme working alongside the rest of the team and the wider Public Health and NHS in Wales.

duties of the job
  • Contribute to the infection prevention and control expertise provided by the HARP team at this national level to a variety of stakeholder groups and projects e.g., Healthcare associated infection Delivery Board , All Wales decontamination group, national procurement services and Welsh Government.
  • Be accountable for delivering IPC strategic objectives, promoting innovation, and supporting operational excellence, that include national campaigns.
  • v Be a highly expert and knowledgeable practitioner providing highly specialised verbal and written advice related to IP&C to stakeholders within Public Health Wales, NHS Wales, and social care.
  • Demonstrate and develop advanced critical communication skills while maintaining a political awareness of the national agenda.
  • Work collaboratively with Health Board/Trusts IPC leads and other relevant quality and safety stakeholders to identify opportunities for IPC improvements across the wider quality agenda.
  • Analyse complex information from surveys, audits, reviews, investigations, and work with colleagues to develop and provide clinical leadership and expertise in implement monitoring systems for improving Quality and Safety
  • Support the Executive Director of Quality, Nursing and Allied Health Professionals in ensuring that robust and high-quality arrangements are in place, for the safety and governance of IP&C in Public Health Wales
