EDT Social Worker

To offer an immediate access to a Social Work service in an emergency.

To offer a service to individual clients, families and the community as a whole under the legal framework of the various acts relating to children and adults and within County Council policies and procedures.

To investigate, assess and initiate action to help individual clients outside of normal working hours, this may include legal action to protect vulnerable adults or children at risk.

To work jointly with other related professionals in both the statutory and voluntary sector for the benefit of all client groups.

To complete the necessary administrative procedures, case recordings and other relevant reports according to current policies and procedures.

To attend relevant meetings, case conferences, court hearings as appropriate.

To liaise with and provide reports for colleagues in district fieldwork and specialist teams.

To provide advice and consultation for colleagues in district teams where appropriate, outside of normal working hours.

To participate in the supervision and appraisal process in line with County Council policies and procedures and to attend relevant training sessions in order to improve individual skills and competence.

To contribute to the development of new forms of work or service via project work, representations on local groups or initiatives etc.

To actively take part in team developments.

To be available for day-time requirements of the team.

To prioritise work for the visiting Social Worker appropriately ensuring all Health & Safety matters are addressed.

To ensure all shortfalls in available services and unmet needs are identified in meetings and are appropriately recorded and reported.
