Spinal Injury Support Worker - Sleeping night shifts
This is a role for an experienced and dedicated Spinal Injury Support Worker to join the Libertatem Healthcare Group in Cardiff. The successful candidate will work on a 2:1 ratio during sleeping night shifts, supporting the independence and lifestyle of clients with spinal injuries. The role involves providing a range of personal care, medical support, and emotional support to ensure the clients can live independently in their own homes.
Mainduties of the job
The Spinal Injury Support Worker will be responsible for assisting with personal care, catheter care, bowel management, respiratory management, medication administration, meal preparation, and providing emotional support and companionship. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, a caring and compassionate nature, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Job descriptionLocation: Cardiff
Salary: Sleeping night rate of £10 per hour for 8 hours per shift – Waking night rate for 4 hours per shift – £17.06 per hour Mon‑Fri, £17.88 per hour weekend nights.
Job Type: Zero‑hour contract
Shifts: 8pm‑8am, 7 days per week. Full time/part time hours available.
We also have day shifts available, 8am‑8pm, 7 days per week.
Role Overview: We are offering an opportunity for experienced and dedicated Spinal Injury Support Workers to join our new client in Cardiff, working on a 2:1 ratio during sleeping night shifts. To support their independence and lifestyle, we’re seeking support workers who are confident, empathetic, and capable of building a strong, trusting relationship.
- Assisting with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting)
- Catheter Care & Bowel Management
- Respiratory Management (cough assist/suctioning)
- Autonomic Dysreflexia Management
- Preparing meals and supporting with nutrition
- Administering medication (training provided)
- Providing emotional support and companionship
- Supporting with mobility and physical activities
- Light housekeeping duties
- Previous experience within a similar role, supporting clients with Spinal Injury, catheter care and bowel management
- A caring and compassionate nature
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A valid UK driving licence essential to drive the WAV during shifts (25 year olds + due to insurance)

- Previous experience in a similar role supporting clients with spinal injuries, catheter care, and bowel management is required. A valid UK driving licence is also essential.
