This is a genuinely interesting role for someone who wants to do more than just process returns.
A well-regarded practice in Cardiff is building out its private client tax offering and needs an experienced Assistant Manager to come in and help shape the way the team works. You'd be joining at the right moment, early enough to have real influence, with the backing of an established firm behind you.
What you'd actually be doingDay to day, you'd be reviewing personal tax work, keeping standards high, and being the person the team comes to when something gets complicated. You'd act as a second point of contact for clients on the trickier stuff, which means good client handling skills matter as much as the technical side.
There's also a genuine advisory element here. This isn't a pure compliance seat, the firm wants someone who can spot opportunities to add value for clients and isn't shy about having those conversations.
You'd be managing and developing a small team, so some experience leading others would be helpful, even if it's been fairly informal so far.
Who they're looking forATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA or qualified by experience, they're open on the route in. What matters more is that you know your stuff technically, you can explain it clearly to clients and colleagues, and you're comfortable owning your workload.
Someone who's been operating at a similar level in practice and is ready for a bit more responsibility would fit well here. Equally, if you're already at Assistant Manager level and looking for a fresh environment, that works too.
The setupHybrid working, Cardiff base. £45,000 – £50,000 depending on where you're at.
If this sounds like the kind of move you've been thinking about, I'm happy to have a proper conversation about it — no obligation, just worth a chat.
