We are a leading provider of M&E engineering solutions across the UK, delivering complex projects within healthcare, nuclear, defence, government, leisure, industrial and infrastructure sectors. As part of our continued Southern expansion into the South West region, this role will play a key part in strengthening our presence and supporting the growth of our project pipeline, under the guidance of our Regional Managing Director, Colin Brunton.
We are now seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive and well‑structured estimates that support successful tender submissions and long‑term business growth.
What you’ll do- Review client specifications and develop clear deliverables for pricing.
- Identify information gaps and work with stakeholders to close them or mitigate risk within estimates.
- Attend client meetings and site visits (nationwide as required).
- Carry out quantity take‑offs from drawings, surveys and technical information.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare and issue RFQs, analyse returns and incorporate them into cost models.
- Produce cost sheets, tender letters and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate tender programmes, schedules and submission requirements.
- Support handover to commercial and operations teams following successful bids.
- Develop project risk registers and ensure risks are clearly captured within submissions.
- Ensure tender documents clearly define scope and minimise commercial exposure.
- Maintain accurate records, reporting and compliance with company processes.
- Strong estimating experience within the M&E, construction or building services sector.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to assess prelims, plant and subcontractor costs.
- Excellent analytical, numerical and problem‑solving skills.
- Confident communicator able to engage with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
- Strong IT skills, including estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- Experience developing tender summaries, programmes and risk registers.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- HNC/NVQ in a relevant engineering discipline (desirable).
