Senior Quantity Surveyor - Waste Water Capital DeliveryCardiff | Permanent | Infrastructure | NEC Contracts | £55,000 to £68,000 + car/travel allowance & package
Are you a commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience in utilities or civil engineering? We are recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a leading infrastructure contractor delivering major waste water capital works across South Wales. This is a key hire within a growing commercial team based in Cardiff, offering structured career development and genuine leadership responsibility.
The OpportunityAs Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:
- Report directly to a Managing Quantity Surveyor (MQS)
- Oversee a portfolio of waste water capital schemes
- Support the MQS in mentoring and developing a small team of surveyors
- Take full commercial ownership of projects from procurement through to final account
- Operate predominantly under NEC contracts (Options A &
C)
The framework includes a mix of treatment works upgrades, network improvements and associated civil engineering schemes. Projects typically range in value and complexity, providing strong exposure to a wide variety of work.
Key Responsibilities- Commercial management of multiple live projects
- Subcontract procurement, negotiation and administration
- Cost forecasting and CVR reporting
- Risk and opportunity management
- Client liaison and commercial reporting
- Supporting and mentoring Assistant / Project Quantity Surveyors
This role requires someone comfortable operating with autonomy while contributing to the wider commercial strategy of the framework.
What We're Looking For- Experience as a Senior QS or strong Project QS ready to step up
- Background in waste water, water, utilities, or civil engineering
- Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract
- Experience managing subcontract packages and change control
- Ability to manage multiple schemes concurrently
- Strong commercial reporting and cost forecasting capability
- Degree qualified (Quantity Surveying or similar preferred)
- Experience on frameworks or long-term utility contracts is highly advantageous.
