The Role

We have a new opening for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer working as part of a small facilities team supporting our Cardiff site. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain further practical, hands-on engineering experience with training available for the right person. Key responsibilities
  • Carry out corrective and preventative maintenance activities generated from Work Orders.
  • Use the site CMMS (Maximo) daily to schedule, record, and complete maintenance, installations, and repairs.
  • Use the BMS to ensure building services and monitored equipment are operating correctly and optimised for efficiency.
  • Support statutory compliance activities across the facility (e.g., legionella testing).
  • Manage routine and planned maintenance and testing of infrastructure, emergency systems, and site equipment, with a focus on mechanical systems.
  • Review RAMS and issue permits to work to ensure safe systems of work are fully adhered to.
  • Ensure maintenance and repairs are completed effectively to minimise downtime.
  • Ensure all maintenance and service contract activities comply with regulations, company policies, and ISO standards, with full documentation.
  • Lead mechanical projects and provide technical guidance to colleagues on mechanical, engineering, and general construction matters.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of materials, parts, and equipment required for maintenance activities.
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Time‑served Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.
  • Strong experience working with a wide range of contractors and internal customers.
  • Proven track record as a Maintenance Technician or in a similar maintenance-focused role.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (highly advantageous).
  • Broad knowledge of electrical systems, maintenance practices, and engineering principles.
  • Excellent skills in electrical maintenance, installation, and fault finding.
  • Strong awareness of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) legislation and safe working practices.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to change.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to identify improvements and solve problems effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence.
