Teaching Assistant Mainstream

Role Summary

Teaching Assistant Level 2 – Grade 4pt 5‑6 (30 hours/week, 39 weeks/year, term‑time only)

The Governors are seeking to appoint a temporary part‑time Teaching Assistant (30 hours per week) to start as soon as possible working in the ALN department within Bishop Gore School. The post will be temporary until 31st August 2026 in the first instance.

Teaching Assistants provide a high level of learning support and guidance to pupils with varying degrees of ALN. The Teaching Assistant will be required to support pupils in mainstream classes providing support to the class teachers. The Teaching Assistant will need to be flexible and prepared to work to suit the child’s learning needs.

This post has a First Aid responsibility. Training will be provided.

The minimum qualification required for this post is a level 2 or equivalent standard in literacy, numeracy and IT skills. The role requires an applicant who can relate well with young people and has a good understanding of child development and the learning process. Experience in this sort of role is strongly desirable but not essential.
