About the roleWe are seeking a SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our SEN school team, working alongside teachers to support the delivery of a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
The successful candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and keen to learn
, supporting learners with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), and physical disabilities (PD). Support will be provided both in the classroom and across the wider school environment
, helping pupils to access learning, develop independence, and feel safe and encouraged.

, strong teamwork skills, and a genuine passion for helping every child feel included and reach their potential are essential.
- Previous experience working with learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) is essential; experience within an SEN school is welcomed.
- A positive, flexible, and can‑do attitude, with a good sense of humour.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with ALN.
- A Child and Adult Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (support can be provided with this process).
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC
), or willingness to register. - Ability to provide suitable references.
- A full UK driving licence and access to personal transport to travel across school campuses.
Our SEN school operates across the Cardiff/ Penarth/ Barry area and supports approximately 500 pupils aged 3–19, all of whom have Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), and physical disabilities. The school is award‑winning, recognised for its innovative use of technology to enhance engagement and participation in learning. In addition to its strong classroom provision, the school places great emphasis on learning beyond the classroom, regularly offering outdoor and community‑based experiences that build confidence and help pupils prepare for their next steps after school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
