This role combines your love and knowledge of sports with your drive to positively influence young people and to increase their engagement with school activities.
We are looking for recent/ aspiring Sport Science graduates who can deliver a motivating and enthusiastic approach to coaching young people with additional learning needs (ALN). Your ability to inspire, adapt, and create inclusive sporting opportunities will play a key role in supporting each learner's progress and wellbeing.
About the Role-- As a Sport Coach, you'll support the delivery of engaging, inclusive sessions that encourage learners of all abilities to take part in physical activity and understand the value of movement, teamwork, and collaboration.
- You'll work with small groups of approximately 5-10 learners and may also provide 1:1 support where needed to help individuals stay engaged and progress.
- Your role will be essential both in and beyond the classroom, as promoting independence, confidence, and positive participation is a key focus of the provision.
- Building strong, meaningful relationships with learners and colleagues is vital, as these connections help create trust and provide stability during more challenging or high-pressure situations.
Our SEN School is an award-winning pioneer in the SEN sector with a main site based in Penarth and smaller campuses across the Cardiff and Barry area. The school caters to learners aged 3-19 years old with ALN, including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), profound, multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), and social, emotional and mental health issues (SEMH).
Our provision supports learners from primary age through to sixth form, offering a consistent and nurturing environment as they prepare for their next steps in education and adulthood. Our school is committed to helping each young person reach their full potential by fostering the development of confident, capable, and resilient individuals.

By prioritising personal growth alongside academic progress, we aim to equip every young person with the foundations they need to lead fulfilling and independent lives.
Requirements-- We do not require prior experience in working in a SEN environment or with children (although prior experience in working with those with ALN is preferred).
- You must have a genuine willingness to work in a SEN setting and a wanting to leave a positive lasting impression on all those you nurture, assist and work with.
- Must have completed a Sport Science degree (or similar) or in the process of completing.
- A resilient attitude and ability to quickly and calmly adapt in high-pressure environments.
- Child and Adult enhanced DBS on the Update Service (we can help you with this).
- An Education Workforce Council (EWC) application (ask us for help with this if needed).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
