Teaching Assistant (Welsh-Medium) – Primary School, Cardiff
Location: Cardiff
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
Start date: ASAP
Essential: Fluent Welsh speaker, DBS (or willingness to apply) and EWC registration (or willingness to apply)
A warm, friendly and highly supportive Welsh-medium primary school in Cardiff is seeking a motivated Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with primary-aged children and who wants to contribute positively within a nurturing school environment.
We are looking for an individual who can be a positive role model, build strong relationships with pupils, and support learning across the school—both in small groups and 1:1. Experience supporting children with SEN/SEND, SEMH needs, or challenging behaviour is desirable, but not essential. A caring, patient approach and a willingness to learn are equally valued.
About the SchoolThe school is known for its welcoming atmosphere, collaborative staff team, and commitment to pupil wellbeing. They use a range of supportive strategies—including nurture-based approaches and outdoor learning—to help children succeed emotionally, socially and academically. Training opportunities are plentiful, with staff encouraged to grow and contribute new ideas.
We’d love to hear from you if you…Have experience working with children in a school, childcare or community setting
Can support pupils who have additional learning needs or who face emotional/behavioural barriers
Are able to engage and communicate effectively with parents and external agencies
Have excellent teamwork skills and a positive, proactive attitude
Are committed to safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusive practice
Are keen to take part in training, including behaviour support and SEND/ALN approaches
Are passionate about helping children achieve their best—both personally and academically
Can work confidently in a dynamic, varied primary school environment
Fluent Welsh speaker (essential)
Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply
EWC registration or willingness to register
Two recent, relevant references
A supportive, nurturing staff team
Weekly PAYE pay
Access to a wide range of training (Safeguarding, Behaviour, Team Teach, SEND, Thrive, etc.)
Regular support and welfare check-ins
Fair pay policy, paid to scale from day one
If you are enthusiastic about supporting children in a Welsh-medium primary setting and have the skills or passion to make a positive impact, we would love to hear from you.
Please apply with your full, up-to-date CV.
