PMLD Teaching Assistants

Full‑time, Term‑time Only

Minimum of £87.96 per day base rate

A number of special educational needs schools in the Cardiff area are looking for staff with a wide range of experience supporting pupils with PMLD or extensive ALN experience. Schools range from Primary and Secondary sites to 3‑19 year provisions.

• Provide one‑to‑one and small group support for students with PMLD.
• Assist with personal care and mobility needs, following individual care plans.
• Support students in accessing a sensory‑based curriculum tailored to their needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver inclusive learning.
• Promote independence, communication, and engagement in all activities.

• Experience supporting young people with PMLD or complex needs is highly desirable.
• Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to care and learning.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training (e.g., manual handling, communication aids).
• DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is essential.
• EWC registration or willingness to register Prospero Teaching is required; this vacancy is advertised by Prospero Teaching, an employment business/education recruitment agency.
