Overview
An exciting opportunity for a Consultant in Paediatric Neurology at the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales in Cardiff. Sub-specialty interests to complement the department are welcome. The post is full-time, with consideration for flexible working arrangements. Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of a CCT date at interview.
You will benefit from the Consultant contract for Wales with a salary range of £110,240 to £160,951 per year.
Referees must cover at least the last 3 years of employment/training. If currently or recently employed as a substantive or locum Consultant for more than 12 months, include the name of your Medical Director as an additional referee.
Main dutiesThis post offers the opportunity to develop a paediatric neurology service in a teaching centre, consolidating services for South and Mid Wales on one site in Cardiff. The successful applicant will contribute to an on-call rota and to an in-patient and extensive outreach clinic service.

QualificationsEssential
- On GMC Specialist Register for the relevant specialty / Specialist Registrar with CCT due within 6 months of interview date
- MRCPCH by examination or equivalent
- Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training
- Valid BLS Training
Desirable
- Higher degree (e.g., MD or PhD)
- Valid APLS and NLS
Essential
- Competencies equivalent to the Highest Specialist Paediatric Training
- Broad training/experience in general paediatric neurology and sub-specialties
- Experience in a clinical network
Desirable
- Experience in NHS
- Fellowship or attachments to paediatric neurology sub-specialties
Essential
- Effective team and multidisciplinary working; strong communication skills
Clinical governance
- Participation in clinical audit/QA projects and engagement with appraisal and revalidation

- Active research interests
