Consultant in Adult Cellular Pathology

Overview

The post is for a full‑time Consultant Histopathologist at University Hospital of Wales (UHW), Cardiff, who will develop and provide a wide‑ranging cellular pathology service to primary, secondary and tertiary care colleagues. The role supports the dynamic, forward‑thinking team of Cellular Pathology Consultants and offers opportunities for research and teaching.

• Lymphoreticular
• Non‑gynaecological cytology
• Pulmonary pathology

There is no cervical cytology requirement.

• Lead the development of specialist diagnostic techniques to meet increasing clinical demands.
• Participate in the training of specialty trainees, scientific and BMS staff.
• Contribute to clinical governance and share in administrative duties associated with laboratory operation.

• Full‑time Consultant Histopathologist (either first‑time or established).
• Applies on the Specialist Register or is a Specialist Registrar within six months of expected CCT.
• Provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of employment/training.
• Substantive or Locum Consultants with more than 12 months’ experience must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.

Excellent Consultant contract for Wales with a basic salary range of £135,596 to £160,951 per annum. Flexible working arrangements may be considered for suitable candidates.
