Quantity Surveyor - Retrofit

Salary: £50,000 per annum plus excellent company benefits

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a passion for social housing and retrofit projects? We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional to join a forward-thinking building maintenance and retrofit provider in Cardiff. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects that enhance homes and public spaces, ensuring they are safe, sustainable, and well-maintained.

Role Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing project budgets, preparing cost estimates, and providing financial insights to support informed decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage contract budgets, forecasts, and valuations to ensure financial control and project profitability.
  • Maintain and extend strong commercial relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Lead and attend meetings with clients and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and strong relationships.
  • Manage subcontractor processes, valuations, and payment requests in line with company procedures.
  • Support pre-start planning, project execution plans, and contract engagement strategies.
  • Monitor project progress, costs, and variations, providing timely financial reports.
  • Assist with estimates and negotiations for future projects or phases.
  • Maximise cash‑flow and ensure accurate financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
What We're Looking For
  • HND/HNC or equivalent in a relevant construction‑related course.
  • Previous experience in social housing or retrofit projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction technology and SOR (Schedule of Rates).
  • Understanding of current forms of contract used in the building trade.
  • Experience in financial reporting, quality inspections, and subcontractor management.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
