Nursery Assistant - University Hospital Wales
Key responsibilities include:
- To act as an assistant key worker to named children, carrying out observations and adding to developmental reports for each child and liaising with parents regularly.
- Working in partnership with the team to assist and with the parents always acting as a positive and professional role model with colleagues and with the children.
To be considered for the role you will be:
- You will need to have a minimum Childcare Day Care Level 2 qualification and experience of a Nursery Assistant role in a busy nursery environment covering the age range 3 months - 5 years, together with excellent knowledge of the child development and current practices.
- This role will involve working varying shifts between the hours of Monday and Friday from 7.00am 6:00pm so flexibility is required.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This post is fixed term for 6 months to meet the needs of the service.

Person specification- Combined Values
- Level 2 in numeracy
- Level 2 in literacy
- Good written and verbal communication
- Ability to follow instruction and to work under own imitative as necessary
- Ability to adapt to meet the needs of the service within a team environment
- Ability to work varying shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 6:00pm Monday to Friday
- Attendance at staff meetings outside normal hours
- Paediatric First Aid
- Food H&H
- Safeguarding
- Demonstrate post qualification experience in a day care setting with children aged three months to five years.
- Experience of contributing towards daily planning and assisting in the undertaking of observations
- Basic knowledge of child care development and an awareness of children's needs
- An awareness of the Curriculum for Wales
- Level 2 Childcare and Education Qualifcation
- Experience in a Day care setting
