Job OverviewNHS Wales Shared Services Procurement (NWSSP) is an established procurement service assisting Health Boards and Trusts across Wales to deliver patient‑centred services. NWSSP is award‑winning, focusing on value, safety, excellence, innovation and quality. Our aim is to set up seamless procurement processes that release clinical time for patient care and to develop a value‑based procurement approach grounded in patient outcomes.
The Procurement Services team has a vacant Procurement Business Officer position – an excellent opportunity to develop a procurement career within a dynamic, challenging and high‑profile environment. The role will work on behalf of Health Education & Improvement Wales and will support the Assistant Head of National Sourcing in providing a professional procurement service to the Trust, contributing to the achievement of the NWSSP Business Plan, and in key procurement projects.
MainDuties
- Act as the interface between NWSSP Local Procurement and customers, representing the function at various levels.
- Inform on the status/priority of category work plans across the Trust and liaise with user departments and NWSSP at all levels to embed procurement input into partner organisations’ business plans.
- Assist the Assistant Head of National Sourcing in delivering a professional procurement service and in key projects.
- Support the Assistant Head of National Sourcing on procurement issues.
- Qualified to CIPS (Level
4), NVQ2/3 or equivalent experience. - 5 GCSEs grade C and above, including Maths & English or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of purchasing principles and contract law (essential).
- Tendering and specification writing (desirable).
- Proven ability to establish and enhance effective working relationships with stakeholders (essential).
- Ability to work to deadlines (desirable).
- Proven ability to use Microsoft products.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex data sets (desirable).
- Ability to work positively as part of a team (desirable).
