The Strategic Category Lead is responsible for the effective management of a defined procurement category, ensuring value for money, regulatory compliance, and alignment with organisational and sustainability objectives. The role supports robust governance while delivering efficient and transparent procurement outcomes.

• Develop and implement category strategies aligned with corporate and policy objectives.
• Lead compliant sourcing and tendering activities in line with procurement regulations.
• Undertake market analysis to inform sourcing decisions and manage supply risk.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance to ensure service continuity and value.
• Ensure contracts are effectively managed, governed, and reviewed.
• Maintain high standards of probity, transparency, and ethical procurement.
• Provide professional leadership and guidance within the procurement function.
• Significant experience in public-sector or regulated procurement.
• Demonstrated knowledge of procurement legislation and governance frameworks.
• Experience leading complex sourcing and contract management activity.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and assurance capability.
• Degree or equivalent professional qualification; CIPS Level 6 (or equivalent).
