The Gastroenterology service is currently looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated Medical Secretary to support the delivery of key services and clinicians within the Gastroenterology directorate in Cardiff and Vale UHB.
The post holder will provide a comprehensive secretarial service to consultant and junior medical staff within the service. This will include organising, planning and prioritising tasks and workload.

Main duties of the jobThe successful post holder will be a highly motivated team player ideally with previous medical secretarial experience and possess sound administrative and clerical skills.
Excellent computer literacy is essential for the role, which will include the use of Microsoft Office packages and relevant databases. You will be highly organised, self motivated, have a flexible approach to work and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A clear understanding of patient confidentiality and being able to work to deadlines is also required. The role will include general support of typing including, audio typing, digital dictation and administrative duties, including cover for colleagues at times of service need.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification Qualifiactions- Educated to GCSE level or Higher
- Sufficient experience as medical secretary
- Knowledge of a wide range of secretarial procedures with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Wide understanding of medical terminology
- Knowledge of the Patient Management System (PMS), UHB Intranet, Email, Results Reporting
- Excellent organizational skills
- Able to function efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Able to work unsupervised and use own initiative, often required to act independently
- Self-motivated with ability to manage own workload Conscientious with good attention to detail
- Good interpersonal skills. Committed to providing a quality service
