Labourer, Trades ​/ Skilled Labor, Construction Labor ​/ Trades

The Labourer is responsible for providing safe and efficient assistance to operational field employees in the completion of high voltage overhead and/or underground and/or transmissions related projects.

• Work in a fast paced, outdoor environment assisting crews with general labour including digging, lifting, and moving equipment and material.
• Knowledge reading locate sheets and possible underground and/or overhead utilities
• May operate a variety of hand and power tools.
• Practice workplace safety to ensure the safety of self, fellow employees and the public.
• Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures including but not limited to incident reporting, required personal safety equipment, lifting heavy loads and load securement.
• Perform excellent housekeeping and cleaning of work site.
• Assist in completing daily circle checks, pre-trip inspections and safety tailboards.
• Provide good public relations with persons inside and outside the company.
• Ensure all tickets/ certificates remain current and up to date.
• Obtain additional tickets when applicable and relevant.

• Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a labourer
• Valid Driver’s License is required
• Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Related College diplomas or certificates are preferred
• Relevant trade certifications an asset
• Experience working in the utility industry and alongside high voltage crews an asset
• Mechanically inclined and safety focused
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills
