Do you have experience as a therapist and are looking for rewarding work in an organization dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of others? In the Therapeutic Counselor role, bring your commitment and clinical skills to a team-based workplace that puts people first.

  • Provide counseling to students in a school based, therapeutic environment using multiple forms of therapeutic approaches, in accordance with their IEP related service recommendations.
  • Work with students to address depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, and problems with self-esteem.
  • Provide family counseling and parental education as needed.
  • Provide assessments in the areas of mental status, personality, behavioral response patterns, relationships, and family interactions.
  • Work with IEP team and create benchmarks and objectives supporting the student across settings.
  • Facilitate/co-facilitate counseling groups as needed.
  • Participate in treatment planning with a interdisciplinary team.
  • Consult with staff, educational stakeholders, family, etc. about treatment recommendations and progress.
  • Submit progress notes, IEP goal updates, and short term objective updates indicating objectives, strategies, and outcomes obtained.
  • Attend residential staff meetings and team meetings as scheduled and/or appropriate; attend discipline meeting as well as meetings with supervisor(s) as necessary.
  • Ensure evaluation, progress, and discharge reports on each student are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation standards and ethics of confidentiality.
  • Provide appropriate supervision and in-house activities for students as needed.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a Human Services field.
  • Two years of relevant experience preferred.
  • LCSW or LCPC licensure required.
  • Must pass DCFS background check.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain composure and exercise sound judgment and discretion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills with an ability to establish trust and rapport quickly.
  • A good listener with an ability to empathize while still providing guidance.
Physical Requirements

Heavy Work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
