Description
The School of Applied Engineering and Technology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks applicants for a 9‑month tenure‑track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning August 11, 2026. We are looking for candidates with a background in Industrial Engineering or a related field. The successful applicant will teach several required undergraduate courses in Industrial Management, graduate courses in Quality Engineering, and serve as program coordinator for the Industrial Management and Applied Engineering program.
Examplesof Duties
- Teach undergraduate courses in Industrial Management and Applied Engineering.
- Teach graduate courses in Quality Engineering and Management.
- Conduct research in areas related to Industrial Engineering.
- Serve as program coordinator for the Industrial Management and Applied Engineering program (work with the advisor on transfer equivalencies, program articulations, and outreach to prospective students).
- Minimum Qualifications: BS, MS, or PhD in Industrial Engineering or a related STEM field by the date of hire.
- Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience in statistical process control, quality, reliability, Six Sigma, lean enterprise, or manufacturing systems; an excellent publication record and a demonstrated potential to establish a funded research program; experience working with a diverse range of faculty, staff, and students and a commitment to inclusivity (please describe these experiences in your cover letter).
