Description
The School of Applied Engineering and Technology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks applicants for a 9‑month tenure‑track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor starting August 11, 2026. We are seeking applicants with a background in Industrial Engineering or a related field. The successful candidate should be able to teach several required undergraduate courses in Industrial Management, graduate courses in Quality Engineering, and provide support as a program coordinator.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and also considers internal equity.
Examples of Duties- Teach undergraduate courses in Industrial Management and Applied Engineering.
- Teach graduate courses in Quality Engineering and Management.
- Conduct research in areas related to Industrial Engineering.
- Serve as program coordinator for the Industrial Management and Applied Engineering program (working with the advisor on transfer equivalencies, program articulations, and outreach to prospective students).
Minimum Qualifications: BS in Industrial Engineering or a similar field; MS in Industrial Engineering or a similar field;
PhD in Industrial Engineering or a related STEM field by date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in statistical process control, quality, reliability, Six Sigma, lean enterprise, or manufacturing systems.
- Excellent publication record and potential to establish a funded research program.
- Experience working with a diverse range of faculty, staff, and students, and the ability to contribute to an inclusive climate.
