Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proven experience in logistics coordination or a similar role, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and multitask effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with logistics software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of logistics operations and supply chain management principles.
- Experience in the logistics or transportation industry is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Planning & Coordination
- Develop and implement logistics strategies and operational plans
- Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to align goals
- Ensure optimal routing, warehousing, and distribution
Cost Management
- Monitor transport, inventory, and warehousing costs
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and streamline processes
- Support profitability through efficiency
Inventory & Stock Control
- Oversee accurate inventory tracking and management
- Reduce excess inventory, obsolescence, and stockouts
- Implement industry best practices in stock control
Supply Chain Optimisation
- Evaluate supply chain performance and order fulfilment
- Collaborate with suppliers to improve delivery timelines and reliability
- Reduce lead times and enhance supplier performance
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure logistics activities comply with transportation, customs, and trade regulations
- Stay updated with changes in legal and compliance requirements
- Implement and monitor compliance frameworks
Performance Monitoring
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Analyse metrics and trends to drive continuous improvement
- Take corrective action to address underperformance
Risk & Disruption Management
- Assess operational risks including transport delays and supply chain issues
- Develop contingency and mitigation strategies to ensure continuity
Technology & Systems Integration
- Utilise TMS, WMS, and inventory management systems
- Drive automation and data-driven decision‑making
- Ensure visibility across the logistics network
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor a logistics team toward operational excellence
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and performance‑driven culture
- Provide coaching, feedback, and support for team growth
Minimum Requirements
Education &
Qualifications:
- Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
Experience:
- Proven experience in logistics or supply chain management
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role (advantageous)
- Proficient in logistics software and technologies
- Sound understanding of transportation, warehousing, and inventory management
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards in the logistics sector
