Team Lead Developer Hybrid

Cape Town | Full-Time | Hybrid (3 days in office - Salt River) | R130,000 CTC + Bonus

I’m working with a global enterprise SaaS organisation in the automotive technology space that is expanding its Cape Town engineering hub. They’re now looking for a hands‑on Lead Software Developer to help shape the technical direction of a large‑scale, data‑driven Automotive Intelligence Platform used by retailers and OEMs worldwide.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who still loves writing code, enjoys solving complex problems at scale, and wants to play a meaningful role in building and maturing a growing engineering function.

You’ll report into UK-based Engineering leadership while leading a local team of developers and senior engineers in Cape Town, working closely with Product and Engineering teams in the UK.

• Leading and mentoring a team of developers and senior engineers in Cape Town
• Designing and delivering new features across a complex enterprise SaaS platform
• Remaining hands‑on across the full SDLC from architecture and design to build, deployment, and optimisation
• Contributing to architectural and long‑term technical decisions
• Driving high standards around code quality, scalability, and security
• Supporting the evolution of CI/CD pipelines, engineering processes, and development standards
• Collaborating closely with UK-based Product, QA, and Engineering colleagues
• Helping shape a strong, high‑performing engineering culture within a growing hub

• C# and .NET / .NET Core
• SQL / T‑SQL (with performance optimisation and query tuning)
• Azure (cloud hosting, services, integrations)
• APIs and third‑party system integrations within a SaaS ecosystem

The product itself is a globally used Automotive Intelligence Platform supporting high‑availability, data‑heavy workflows across international markets.

• Proven experience as a Lead Developer, or Technical Lead within an enterprise SaaS environment (or similar). Having led teams of 10+ people and able to foster a team culture.
• Deep hands‑on expertise in C#, .NET, and SQL
• Strong understanding of architecture, system design, and scalable platform development
• Experience building and maintaining APIs and third‑party integrations
• Solid experience working with Azure‑hosted applications
• Comfort contributing across backend and frontend where required
• Experience mentoring or guiding developers, leading by example rather than hierarchy
• Confident working with distributed, international teams

• Experience helping establish or scale a new engineering function
• Background working on complex, high‑availability SaaS platforms
• Exposure to automotive technology or similarly data‑intensive industries
