Senior Team Lead, Software Engineering/Architecture
Senior Team Lead in the Software Engineering/Architecture field is a developing management role responsible for providing operational support to a team of developers, engineers, and architects. Key Responsibilities- Manages the activities of the software engineering/architecture team, setting goals to ensure timely project delivery.
- Provides input to the development, planning, directing, coordination and management of the processes related to software engineering/architecture initiatives and projects.
- Collaborates with internal and external partners to address issues and concerns, resolving them promptly.
- Ensures relevant procedures and processes are in place and followed throughout the software engineering/architecture lifecycle.
- Drives the architectural vision, translating product requirements into work items that the team can perform and ensures tasks are completed.
- Coordinates resources and streamlines processes to meet deliverable timelines.
- Assists in the design and execution of the software engineering/architecture lifecycle.
- Defines quality assurance and automated testing requirements, processes, and guidelines.
- Recommends technologies to enable scalable system architecture designs.
- Collaborates regularly with product owners and end users to translate requirements into actionable work.
- Monitors project execution from conception to implementation, reporting status regularly.
- Responds to RFPs with complete timelines, deliverables, and budget.
- Documents release packages and ensures team access to new releases.
- Stays current with emerging technologies and assesses their fit for future solutions.
- Identifies best practices for software engineering and architecture documentation, ensuring designs meet requirements and deliver high quality.
- Understanding of the regulatory, risk, and compliance environment and requirements.
- Understanding of programming languages, complex applications, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of the software development, engineering, and architecture life‑cycle processes and methodologies.
- Understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Understanding of all processes related to software including analysis, development, architecture, design, coding, system and user testing, problem resolution, and planning.
- Understanding of build and release processes, environment management, and source control management.
- Ability to build a cohesive team and manage people effectively.
- Ability to balance and plan short‑term and long‑term actions for the team.
- Ability to collaborate and engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant certifications required.
- Line manager experience in a technical lead capacity.
- Experience building, managing, and leading software development, engineering, and/or architecture teams.
- Experience dealing with stakeholders, building relationships, and negotiating with decision makers.
- Experience delivering large software projects using Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience in a complex business environment with ability to translate technical concepts into business terms.
- Experience negotiating or managing third‑party services.
- Experience developing and implementing strategies in a multi‑supplier environment.
- Previous line‑management responsibilities or resource allocation within a department or project environment.
