Our client in the Manufacturing and Installation of industrial doors sector, is currently looking to employ a Senior Field Service Technician based (Welder) in Cape Town.

Requirements- Grade 12 with English and Mathematics, or an equivalent Technical Trade Certificate (Welder).
- Valid South African Driver’s License.
- Proficient with hand tools and power tools
- Ability to perform welding tasks.
- Working at Heights certification (essential).
- Comfortable working at heights.
- Scaffolding erection and inspection certification.
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a Junior Field Technician or Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical, electrical, or industrial environment.
Site Assessment and Preparation
- Conduct site inspections to determine readiness for installations.
- Assess site requirements including power supply, steelwork, accessibility and tools.
- Take accurate on-site measurements for upcoming installations.
- Compile comprehensive “installation packs” with all necessary tools, parts and accessories.
- Ensure compliance with customer Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Attend and arrange OHS inductions for team members.
- Prepare detailed risk assessments for each installation site.
- Maintain operational efficiency by ensuring correct tools and preparation.
- Execute accurate and timely installation of all products.
- Ensure that the assigned installation is completed in good time to achieve excellent customer service.
- Provide feedback to management on team efficiency and any site-related issues.
- Take full responsibility for each assigned installation from start to finish.
Repairs and Maintenance
- Conduct site visits to assess repair and maintenance needs.
- Perform fault-finding on breakdowns.
- Repair, service and maintain all mechanical and electrical components of doors and docking systems.
- Complete jobs correctly on the first visit to avoid delays or call-backs.
Quality Control and Commissioning
- Enforce strict quality control standards on all installations.
- Ensure adherence to the company s process and product quality standards.
- Professionally hand over completed installations to clients.
- Ensure all handover documentation is provided and acknowledged (manuals, certificates, warranties).
- Technical Knowledge and Problem Solving.
Work Environment and Equipment
- Keep all tools and machinery in good working condition; report any damage or losses.
- Perform monthly vehicle checks using checklists to ensure tool inventory, cleanliness and roadworthiness.
- Maintain clean, tidy, and safe working conditions at all times.
- Inspect and maintain safety clothing and PPE monthly; replace or repair as needed.
- Uphold full compliance with safety protocols.
