THE POSITION
We are looking for a Key Account Manager based in Capetown. This position will be responsible for growing and managing the business relationship with our key customers in Southern Africa, including achieving the sales budget, executing sales & marketing plans and leading the account planning process for these customers. Key responsibilities in this role include delivering excellence in customer support and ensuring above market growth, driving long term revenue and profitability growth with key customers and implement growth strategies and actions through defined tactics and key insights.
This position will be reporting to the Sales and Marketing Lead‑Livestock.
- Achieve short and mid-term financial targets as set by the avian/ruminant/swine department for assigned territory/customers
- Translate customer strategy into annual sales and outlook targets that is mutually agreed with local management and customer account owners
- Setting and executing the Key Account Customer Business Plans in line with the local avian/ruminant/swine strategy
- Ensure proper priority setting and focus to achieve targets at customer level
- Follow up on implementation activities and measure impact on strategic customers
- Regularly update the sales potential of the strategic account and provide a quarterly sales and activity report to the global, regional and local stakeholders
- Lead by compiling all relevant information in the Valkre and CRM system for customers
- Identify customer needs and make mutually agreed proposals for solutions that leads to maximal Share of wallet and optimal key account
- Gather and assess competitive intelligence, perform market/customer analysis to drive innovation and change for the team and business
- Provide support and suggestions to local team to facilitate potential negotiations with customer
- Work cross-functionally internally and externally to ensure communication to key customer plan stakeholders and to the management team
- Understand the formal and informal customer structure including decision making and influence maps and identify mutual growth opportunities in the business
- Ensure activities and interactions are in line with Boehringer Ingelheim compliance guidelines and ensure adherence to corporate SOP's and procedures
- Prepare for and conduct informative discussions with local team to understand expectations or requests
- Degree in Veterinary Medicine/Animal Science/Agricultural Engineering or Business Management
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in sales and marketing with a proven track record of achieving targets and execution of strategy
- Experience in Strategic/Key account management
- Knowledge of the Animal Health Industry economics and drivers preferred
- Demonstrate agility within a cross functional team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong ability to influence and lead
- Ability to build and maintain relations with internal and external stakeholders
