• Valid SANC
• Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate in Theatre will serve as an advantage
• At least 3 years Clinical experience as a Professional Nurse in theatre
• Pharmacology
• Nursing record keeping
• Nursing processes and procedures
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
• Relevant nursing legislation
• Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and protocols
• Scientific nursing principles and process
• Audit patient records
• Patient assessment skills
• Develop/ modify a nursing care plan
• Scope of practice for nurse practitioners
• For specialised wards; ACLS; ATLS; PALS trained;
• Risk identification
• Analysing and interpretation skills
• Basic life support trained

• Provides unit management support by maintaining quality management, performance management and people management practices
• Executes duties and responsibilities according to nursing scope of practice
• Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting set clinical quality standards
• Manage the patient experience
• Ensure optimal supply, retention and utilisation of staffing resources
• Empower and build staff competence through continuous assessment and development
• Assist with the effective management of operational expenses (including stock and capital)
