Position: Fundraiser based in Vrygrond

New World Foundation (NWF) is a values-driven organisation committed to creating sustainable impact through Community Development, Youth Development, Gender-Based Violence & Femicide (GBVF) interventions, and Skills Training and Education. We work in partnership with communities, donors, and stakeholders to drive meaningful change.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Fundraiser will be responsible for developing and strengthening corporate, trust, foundation, and agency fundraising initiatives to support NWF’s strategic objectives. The role focuses on building strong partnerships, securing sponsor ships, leading impactful fundraising campaigns and events, and ensuring effective donor engagement and stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Fund Development

  • Develop and implement an 18-month fund development and operational plan, approved by Q1.
  • Identify and prioritise strategic funding opportunities aligned with NWF’s focus areas and sustainable investment goals.
  • Research fundraising trends and opportunities relevant to NWF’s programmes.
  • Support the Director with income forecasting and proposal budgeting.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Programme Managers to identify funding gaps, new initiatives, and donor alignment.

2. Donor Relations & Partnerships

  • Build, maintain, and manage a comprehensive donor and prospect database.
  • Establish long-term relationships with corporates, trusts, foundations, agencies, and CSI departments.
  • Conduct targeted donor outreach, including cold calling and networking.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for donors.
  • Coordinate donor recognition and acknowledgment processes.
  • Ensure all donor engagement reflects NWF’s values, professionalism, and brand integrity.

3. Proposal & Concept Note Development

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop high-quality fundraising proposals.
  • Prepare donor-specific concept notes and tailored proposals.
  • Adapt and refine proposal templates for consistency and efficiency.
  • Ensure proposals are accurate, compelling, well-costed, and approved by the Director prior to submission.

4. Campaigns & Events

  • Lead and strengthen fundraising campaigns linked to key national days, including:
  • Youth Day
  • National Women’s Day
  • 16 Days of Activism
  • Conceptualise and secure corporate sponsor ships for events.
  • Coordinate event planning, logistics, and marketing with programme teams.
  • Mobilise corporate partners for financial, in-kind, and volunteer support.
  • Organise an annual stakeholder engagement event.
  • Ensure all campaigns and events align with NWF’s brand and strategy.

5. Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate donor records, communications, and funding outcomes.
  • Monitor grant agreements, sponsorship deliverables, and reporting deadlines.
  • Collect monitoring, evaluation, and impact data for donor reporting.
  • Support preparation of donor and board reports demonstrating impact and accountability.

6. Marketing & Communications

  • Contribute content ideas for newsletters, the website, and social media platforms.
  • Showcase donor partnerships and campaign successes through storytelling.
  • Ensure consistent and credible messaging across all donor communications.
  • Strengthen NWF’s profile as a trusted and impactful partner.

Other Duties

  • Undertake any additional duties as reasonably requested by the Director.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

  • Identify and qualify a minimum of 150 to 200 new corporate/institutional prospects per quarter.
  • Contribute accurately and timeously to annual income forecasting and budgeting.
  • Demonstrate alignment between fundraising initiatives and programme priorities.

Donor Relationship Management

  • Conduct a minimum of 10 new and 2 current donor engagement meetings/calls per month.
  • Achieve at least 33% conversion rate of qualified prospects into active partnerships annually.
  • Maintain a minimum 75% partner retention rate year-on-year.
  • Receive positive partner feedback on professionalism and responsiveness.

Proposal Development

  • Submit a minimum of 15 funding proposals per quarter.
  • Achieve at least a 30% proposal success rate.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with NWF branding, messaging, and data accuracy.
  • Produce proposal drafts within 5 (five) working days of opportunity identification.
