Role/ResponsibilitiesExamples of the skills, knowledge, and experiences you need to lead and deliver value at this level include but are not limited to:
- Analyse and identify linkages and interactions between the component parts of an entire system.
- Take ownership of projects, ensuring their planning, budgeting, execution, and completion.
- Partner with team leadership to ensure collective ownership of quality, timelines, and deliverables.

- Mentor others and use work reviews to deepen team expertise.
- Address conflicts or issues with clients, team members and other stakeholders, escalating where appropriate.

The Reward team in South Africa is a national practice of approximately 23 individuals, split across two offices (Johannesburg: 16, Cape Town:
7). The team is divided into two work streams:
Analytics (benchmarking, modelling, KPI strategy consulting, variable pay design) led by Andreas Horak, and Tax, Legal and Governance (TLG) led by Leila Ebrahimi. The role will be based in Cape Town with occasional travel to Johannesburg. You will assist with running the Cape Town practice, including operational and people-related responsibilities, and you will represent the practice at client meetings.
As both leaders are based in Johannesburg, you should be confident in operating remotely and independently within the broader team.
Introduction to the Reward Consultant RoleAs a Reward Consultant you will be consulting on projects across the full spectrum of remuneration, including executive and non-executive benchmarking, variable pay design, financial modelling, remuneration reports, investor views, and governance best practices.
Role/Job DetailsAs a Manager/Senior Manager you will primarily be involved in the following:
- Reviewing executive and non-executive benchmarking and contributing to methodology development.
- Preparation and review of indicative financial models for cost/benefit analysis of variable pay arrangements.
- Performance condition testing (e.g., Total Shareholder Return) and KPI strategy consulting.
- Critically review client remuneration practices and draft papers with recommendations for new structures.
- Short-term and long-term incentive review and design.
- Analyse remuneration reporting in light of King IV and assist clients with remuneration reports and policies for integrated reports.
- Monitor institutional investor voting patterns and trends in design and disclosure of remuneration.
- Provide ongoing advice and prepare communications for remuneration committees.
- Manage client relationships and project engagements, including risk management and cost control.
- Attend client meetings and assist with client publications; other practice activities as needed.
- Prepare formal legal documentation for long-term incentive plans, ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., JSE listings, Companies Act), liaising with sponsors and external lawyers as required.
- Draft employee communications on incentives and conduct research on technical, legal, tax issues; advise PwC offices on SA tax consequences of incentive arrangements and liaise with foreign offices as needed.
