About the Opportunity

A well-established national road freight and logistics company is seeking an experienced and results-driven Branch Manager to lead and manage its Cape Town operations.

This is a senior operational leadership role suited to a candidate with strong road freight experience, proven people-management capability, and a hands-on approach to operational excellence, compliance, and client service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day branch operations to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and on-time service delivery

  • Plan, coordinate, and optimise the use of vehicles, staff, and operational resources

  • Implement and enforce health, safety, and operational procedures to ensure compliance and minimise risk

2. Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, motivate, train, and develop a high-performing branch team

  • Create a positive, accountable, and performance-driven work culture

  • Conduct performance reviews and manage discipline, coaching, and development

3. Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and ensure high service levels

  • Resolve client queries, escalations, and operational issues effectively

  • Identify opportunities for operational improvement and business growth in collaboration with sales teams

4. Financial & Performance Management

  • Manage and control branch budgets and operational costs

  • Monitor branch performance against operational and financial targets

  • Work closely with finance to ensure accurate billing, reporting, and cost control

5. Compliance, Risk & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, transport regulations, and industry standards

  • Implement and monitor quality control and operational audit processes

  • Continuously assess and improve branch efficiency and service delivery

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric (non-negotiable)

  • Diploma or Degree in Business Management, Logistics, Transport, or related field (advantageous)

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in road freight / logistics, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role

  • Strong operational, people-management, and decision-making skills

  • Solid understanding of transport legislation, fleet operations, and logistics best practices

  • Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
