What will you do?
This role fulfils the Executive Head: STA, a business that is a key strategic growth driver for Santam Group. Comprising distribution, servicing and product/underwriting, STA is poised for profitable growth, driven by an increase in manpower, improved productivity and at its, heart enabling and supporting tied advisers across all their activities. In partnership with Sanlam, the success of this business is based on successful collaboration across Sanlam and Santam.
Additionally, enhanced collaboration in areas like cross-selling, talent management, and product innovation is critical. The tied agency distributes products across personal lines, commercial lines and specialist lines
Strong leadership, strategic mindset, solid commercial acumen, outstanding relationship management and being adaptable
• Achievement of business targets which includes:
- Gross written premium
- Profitability
- Advisor base
• Manage senior stakeholders across Santam and Sanlam
Group.
• Deliver on and improve the Value proposition of the Tied agency model
• Manage the morale and engagement levels of the team across Tied agency and Broker services
• Initiatives implemented to enhance employment equity and manage
diversity to support business growth and sustain corporate performance
• Acquire, develop, deploy and retain new talent, current employees and leaders
• Optimise business pricing processes for new Business and retentions
What will make you successful in this role?
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Matric
• Relevant Bachelors Degree
• Relevant Short Term Insurance qualification
• FAIS compliant, including RE certificate
• Minimum of 10 years in short term insurance experience essential
• Minimum 5 years senior management experience
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Microsoft Office - Excel, Word and Power Point
• Strategic planning and execution
• Excellent communication, negotiation & presentation skills
• Technical short term insurance knowledge essential - both personal and commercial lines.
• Rating and Loss Ratio (high level information)
• Effective internal and external stakeholder management
• Understanding compliance and legislative requirements in onboarding, training and vesting of Short term advisers.
• Problem solving skills
• Financial and commercial acumen
