PBT Group is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support a Transformation programme, a strategic initiative focused on modernising and optimising data platforms, pipelines, and reporting capabilities.

This role is ideal for a hands‑on data engineer with strong cloud expertise (AWS), modern data processing frameworks, and solid Power BI capabilities. While the role carries senior expectations, experienced mid‑level candidates with strong technical depth are encouraged to apply, as complex architectural components will be supported by the existing senior team.

• Design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines and workflows
• Develop and maintain cloud‑native data solutions within AWS
• Implement and manage development and deployment pipelines
• Support reporting and analytics use cases via Power BI
• Collaborate with finance, analytics, and technology stakeholders
• Ensure performance, reliability, and data quality across pipelines
• Contribute to data platform evolution and best practices
• Produce clear technical documentation and artefacts

Strong hands‑on experience with:

• Power BI (data models, performance optimization, reporting integration)
• AWS Ecosystem, including:
  • AWS Lambda
  • AWS EMR
  • AWS Step Functions
  • AWS Athena
  • AWS S3
• ETL / ELT Pipeline Development
• SQL (advanced querying & optimization)
• Python (data processing & automation)
• Azure Dev Ops (CI/CD pipelines & source control)

Data Engineering & Platform

Skills:

• Development of modular, maintainable data workflows
• Performance tuning of large‑scale data processes
• Cloud‑based analytics and processing patterns
• Experience working with structured and semi‑structured datasets
• Understanding of distributed data processing concepts

• Advantageous experience with:
  • AWS Glue, Redshift, or related services
  • Event‑driven architectures (Event Bridge, messaging patterns)
  • Spark / Py Spark
  • Big Data / Hadoop‑type ecosystems
  • Containerisation (Docker)
• Developer & Collaboration Tooling
• Experience working with:
  • Azure Dev Ops
  • JIRA, Confluence
  • CI/CD & Dev Pipeline setup
  • Source control & branching strategies

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field
• Senior Level: 8 – 10+ years data engineering experience
• Mid‑Level Consideration: 4 – 7 years strong relevant experience
• Proven experience in cloud‑based data environments
