Who We Are Looking For

The full-time Intelligence Analyst II will support the Information Services Department in delivering high-quality analytical research and client-facing intelligence products for a key multinational retail client operating across South Africa. The role will focus on proactive risk monitoring, structured reporting, and consistent client engagement to support operational continuity and informed decision-making. The analyst will take ownership of the South Africa risk portfolio for this client, maintaining close liaison through a dedicated weekly client meeting and delivering timely alerts, assessments, and strategic insights.

What You Will Work On

This position forms an integral part of the Risk Analysis Team and will be treated as such:

  • Deliver analytical support for the multinational retail client’s South Africa operations, ensuring relevance, accuracy, and operational value
  • Lead and participate in a structured weekly client meeting, providing updates on current risks, emerging trends, and forward-looking assessments
  • Produce and distribute weekly reports focused on security developments, protests, operational disruptions, and emerging threats nationally and regionally
  • Compile comprehensive monthly and quarterly analytical reports, incorporating trend analysis, incident patterns, and strategic outlooks
  • Provide real-time alerts for protest actions, civil unrest, labour disruptions, criminal activity, or any risk events that may impact the client’s assets, staff, or supply chain
  • Monitor and analyse protest activity, industrial action, political developments, and socio-economic drivers that could affect retail operations in South Africa
  • Maintain and manage a South Africa risk and incident database, ensuring verified, time-sensitive, and structured data inputs
  • Draft clear and concise situational reports (SITREPs) and risk advisories aligned with client requirements and escalation protocols
  • Conduct regular security briefings and risk reviews for internal stakeholders and the client, translating intelligence into practical recommendations
  • Build and maintain information networks with area managers, security teams, local authorities, media sources, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Support broader Information Services projects as required, including cross-regional analytical tasks and thematic assessments
  • Provide ad hoc analytical support and reporting for other African markets such as Nigeria and Malawi, as well as any additional countries as operational needs arise
  • Contribute to business development by identifying potential client leads, supporting opportunity intelligence, and proactively flagging prospects that may benefit from Garda World’s Information Services solutions, enabling engagement and revenue growth

  • Continuous updates to the South Africa incident and risk database

This role is critical in ensuring the client maintains situational awareness and operational resilience across its South African operations through reliable, structured, and timely intelligence support.

What You Will Bring

  • 2-3 years' experience within a research environment desirable - Legal and/or intelligence/risk advisory background ideal
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with social listening or relevant technologies which harvest insights in digital domains
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree in a relevant discipline such as Political Science, International Affairs or International Relations
  • Excellent writing and organisational skills
  • Flexible and keen to learn new skills
  • Demonstrable experience in a high-risk research environment, preferably in the context of social media insights, social listening, or digital analytics
  • Understanding of Socio-economic factors within the relevant assigned regions
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple ongoing projects
  • Understanding of security/intelligence processes
  • Exposure to military systems/experience gained from a military environment
  • Ability to self-start and work remotely with minimal supervision
