Business Intelligence Developer - CPT

Business Intelligence Developer available at Santam Client Solutions in Cape Town.

We're looking for a BI Analyst–Developer who thrives at the intersection of business and data. This dual‑role position supports business stakeholders day‑to‑day while designing and building scalable Power BI reporting solutions that drive insight and decision‑making.

You’ll be embedded into specific business areas (e.g., sales, servicing, retentions) on a rotating basis to:

• Assist with ad‑hoc data questions
• Troubleshoot report issues
• Translate business requirements into clear BI solutions
• Build and maintain Power BI reports and dataflows

You’ll work as part of a growing BI team that is transforming a legacy Excel‑based reporting setup into a scalable, governed Power BI environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Serve as the first point of contact for business users in your assigned department
• Answer ad‑hoc data queries, support decision‑makers, and guide users on interpreting reports
• Work closely with stakeholders to clarify reporting requirements
• Proactively identify reporting gaps or improvement opportunities and translate them into reporting solutions
• Facilitate monthly reporting processes that rely on data (commissions, management reporting and monthly analysis)
• Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports based on business needs
• Build dataflows and transform data using Power Query (M) and DAX
• Ensure data is accurate, consistent, and follows BI governance standards
• Help migrate existing Excel‑based reports into automated, scalable Power BI assets
• Participate in peer reviews and team‑based development work

• Two or more years’ experience with Power BI development
• Strong Power Query (M) and DAX skills
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases
• Experience working with Power BI Service and Dataflows
• Familiarity with Power BI Premium Capacity
• Exposure to Agile tools such as Jira/Dev Ops for task management (advantageous)
• Bonus:
  Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or Power Automate
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Statistics, Commerce or related field (preferred)
• Two or more years of BI or analytics experience in a business‑facing environment
