Red Ember Recruitment is looking for a highly skilled Payroll Administrator to be based at our client in Tyger Valley, Cape Town.
Responsibilities- Ensure timeous and accurate end-to-end processing of payroll for ±350 employees.
- Maintain payroll and leave administration systems.
- Administer and maintain leave, including maternity leave and UIF forms.
- Accurately process new employees, transfers, promotions, terminations, and other payroll-related transactions.
- Calculate and process monthly earnings, deductions, and commissions.
- Administer employee benefits in line with company remuneration policies.
- Input and maintain payroll data (e.g., cost centers, EE, ETI).
- Liaise with staff and management on payroll and employee benefit queries.
- Advise staff on company policies and procedures where appropriate.
- Manage month-end and year-end statutory payroll requirements.
- Perform mandatory monthly payroll reconciliation, prepare journals, and facilitate 3rd party payments.
- Assist Finance with reconciliation of payroll-related General Ledger accounts.
- Prepare payroll audit reports and submissions.
- Submit monthly EMP
201, annual Return of Earnings, and bi-annual EMP
501 online via SARS e-filing. - Apply for new entity PAYE and COIDA numbers.
- Prepare reports for BEE, Employment Equity, and STATS SA submissions.
- Manage weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls.
- Liaise with SARS and other 3rd parties regarding payroll tax matters.
- Close off payroll periods and initiate new payroll periods.
- Escalate client/work issues to Supervisor/Manager as needed.
- Assist with payroll-related projects as required.
- Matric qualification required;
Diploma or tertiary qualification essential. - Minimum 5 years’ experience in payroll systems.
- Strong understanding of BCEA and payroll-related legislation.
- Experience with BIBC monthly online submissions, Sanlam Retirement Fund submissions, and clocking systems beneficial.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Afrikaans and English.
- Proficient in Sage 300 People, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, Google (Gmail).
- Strong numerical, analytical, and data entry skills.
- Experience in payroll reconciliation processes.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Strong reporting skills and attention to detail.
