Function Nursing Facility Position Registered Midwife Introduction
A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse Midwife in the Maternity Unit
, based at Life Kingsbury Hospital
, reporting to Colete Finger, Unit Manager
. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of quality patient care.
Critical Outputs
Ensure professional, ethical practice in the unit
Provide and supervise nursing care in accordance with legislation that directly and indirectly governs nursing
practiceProvide and supervise nursing care in accordance with ethical codes that directly and indirectly guide nursing
practicesAccept accountability and responsibility for own professional actionsEnsure the provision of competent, clinical nursing care in the unit
Use the scientific process of nursing to initiate and manage comprehensive nursing care plans that will ensure
quality nursing careCoordinate and supervise nursing activities of members of the healthcare team who provide basic careCustomer Satisfaction:
Enhance patient satisfaction
Utilise available management tools and strategies to enhance patient experience through continuing quality
improvement initiativesAssist in the management of patient complaintsBuild professional relationships with the members of the multi-disciplinary team
Cooperate fully with the members of the multi-disciplinary team and independently delivering nursing careAssist in the management of complaints from members of the multi-disciplinary teamSafe Environment:
Assist in maintaining an environment which is both emotionally and physically safe
Utilise available management tools and participate in pro active management strategies to ensure an
emotionally and physically safe patient environment SHEQ and infection controlBusiness Efficiency:
Contribute to business efficiency through cost effective patient care, interdepartmental cooperation and economic use of all resources
Utilise and supervise adherence to interdepartmental requirements with regard to stock management, case
management and billingCoaching and mentor staff
Assist in the performance management of the unit staffAssist in staff development through the provision of appropriate on the job in-service educationParticipate in staff recognition and reward management strategiesRequirements
General Nursing Degree / Diploma – Midwife qualificationRegistration with SANCRelevant experience in Maternity or Labour Wards requiredExperience in Gynecology will be an advantageUnderstanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantageComputer proficiency would be an advantageCompetencies
